GREW UP ON A TIGHTROPE, LEARNED TO SMILE
EVEN WHEN I WAS FALLING DOWN
Dark brown, kept rather short, styled with moderate amounts of gel
eye color: Brown
height and weight: 6’0; 160
distinguishing features: He has a few of what he’d call “scraps and dings”- small scars, mostly from burns and small injuries- mostly cooking malfunctions on his arms, but other than that he doesn’t really have anything, he has a tiny tiny bit of a southern accent but he hides it pretty well
face claim: Freddie Smith[/ul][/blockquote]
OUT WHERE YOUR TROUBLES CAN‘T FIND YOU
OUT WHERE YOU LEAVE THEM ALL BEHIND
art, talking about philosophy, engaging with people (in theory more in practice, he often forgets how people actually act), reading, smoking, he enjoys small moments, driving
dislikes: when people are assholes, the “system” (he has a major problems with the ‘institution’ of education & isn’t a big fan of the government),
strengths: easy going, friendly, can twist anything to make it positive (in his weird existential/absurdist way), is very hard to upset
weaknesses: he’s a do-nothing; comforting people; when he does deal with something that actually upsets him, it’s hard for those feelings to settle with his logical side; he romanticizes a lot of stuff he probably shouldn’t
fears: he’s claustrophobic & also afraid of irrevocable choices and actions
goals: mostly just enjoy his life & to make good art
personality overview: Julian drifts through just about everything. On first glance he seems like he’s lazy and aimless and although that’s probably true he would argue that he’s definitely happy. It’s all in his philosophy; you only have so much time on earth right? Might as well enjoy every minute. Easy-going is nearly his middle name, there isn’t a lot that can make him angry, or even really upset him. He has a habit of approaching every situation that involves complex emotion logically and doesn’t really see any reason to be upset if there isn’t a good reason, and even then he sees them as more of a distraction. He takes a lot of joy from simple things like smoking on his tiny balcony, and rolling his windows down when driving, and nature-it’s not hard to please him. Julian likes talking about philosophy and literature and art, which frankly, makes him a bit pretentious and annoying, especially for those who don’t have time or resources to appreciate such things, he gets a bit sheepish about it if people point it out and it’s something he’s aware of at least. As an early teen he always romanticized the starving artist in the shoebox apartment, and now that he’s living, he would even admit he still kind of romanticizes it. His apartment shows it, full of coffee mugs, canvases, and plaid shirts and smelling of cigarettes and paint.

DEAR MOM AND DAD, I‘LL SEND MONEY
I‘M SO RICH THAT IT AIN‘T FUNNY
Anna Ruskin/44/florist
father: George Ruskin/50/florist
siblings: none
others: n/a
hometown: His hometown is Eureka, Kansas but he moved to New York for art school, and after he decided not to go he stopped in Oakbrook and just stayed in West Oak
family social status: He’s dirt poor, but somehow always makes enough for rent
brief history:Anna and George Ruskin are the only florists in Eureka Kansas, and Julian is their only son. He grew up with a strong passion for art, inspired by an amazing teacher and it stayed with him. His parents never openly discouraged this, but he did get some comments about “realistic goals”. To be honest, he still feels pretty bad for not making more of himself- like maybe he’s enforcing a stereotype. His dad got pretty forceful about it at the end, but Julian convinced him at the end- he even got a pretty good scholarship to the school in New York. It’s a shame that didn’t pan out. He got bullied a bit before that, got called some ugly names- it bothered him for a while, but he came to realize it didn’t really matter.
