Kat's living the simple life, or what she would call a simple life - working one job and going to school won't bring her down. brief history: Kat's parents had moved to New York from Colorado after they had met and gotten married. After giving birth to Kat's older sister the family was doing well. Ray was a contractor, working on buildings around the city - he was proclaimed for his job, one of the best in New York. Sabrina had always been in small business working as waitress or hostess in multiple restaurants as her furthest education was her high school diploma. Kat's father died when she was just 12, heart problems that ran through his family's history. Ray was diagnosed with coronary heart disease on one visit to the hospital after work where he announced he was having difficulty breathing and pain in his upper arms. As time progressed Ray got worse, the family couldn't afford the treatment or medicine the hospital offered and the bills kept piling higher and higher. After Ray had passed Kat and her mother were left with the seven digit hospital bill - causing them to move to their apartment they're at presently. As for Kat's sister she moved out of the house at 18 and ran off with her boyfriend, Kat hasn't spoken to Samantha in over five years, nor heard from her.
