brief history: Earl and Sydney met while taking an art class in high school, becoming sweethearts. At the time, there was no way for them to get married, because of their parents. They went their separate ways and both worked for their parents, Earl ina a bake shop, and Sydney in a textile mill. They both ran away into the forest, where they fell in love again and got secretly married. Returning to the town, their parents still disagreed with their love, leaving them to themselves. After that, Daniel was born, and after that, Earl. After developing small jobs here and there in the West side, Earl's writing career took off, enabling them to move to the East side. Daniel and Earl Jr get money from their now wealthy parents, but spend it wisely.

Towards Daniel, his parents are lenient to what he does, but are stern in saying what they say goes. Daniel doesn't like to hear about his father's poetry, as it bores him to death. He likes getting out of the house frequently to relax by himself or with Earl. His parents don't know much about Daniel's whereabouts most of the time, but would reprimand him if he did anything wrong.
